Budapest, 12 February 2018 – KELER CCP, provider of clearing services, increased revenues with 7.3% in the last year, and currently has 138 clearing and non-clearing members that is an increase of more than 30% during the last three years. Energy market players play an increasingly important role in the client portfolio of the company that continues international and regional expansion this year also. As in the past years, KELER CCP exhibited at E-World Energy&Waters in Essen, the most important European event of the energy industry, to offer its cost-effective services to new participants.
The E-world Energy&Water exhibition, fair and conference, traditionally held in Essen, Germany, focuses on energetics. The importance of the exhibition, held between 6 and 8 February, is illustrated by the fact that more than 700 exhibitors presented their solutions and over 25 thousand experts attended the event. KELER CCP, a member of the KELER Group, also exhibited at the fair.
Károly Mátrai, CEO of KELER CCP informed:
„The Essen conference is an outstanding opportunity for KELER CCP to cooperate with new partners, to offer unique, cost-effective clearing services in the international gas and power markets, in line with its strategy.”
Significant growth in all areas
On the whole, the company closed a successful year in 2017. Károly Mátrai said that based on preliminary figures KELER CCP revenues increased with 7.3% compared to 2016. The number of domestic and international clients also grew dynamically: at the end of last year, the number of clearing members and non-clearing members reached 138. This is an increase of 35% compared to 2014. Most of the energy market clients are from Western Europe and from the CEE region; there are 52 Hungarian partners in the capital and energy markets.
The CEO stressed that several strategic developments were implemented in relation to client servicing, for example as of October the currency of trading and clearing at CEEGEX Central Eastern European Gas Exchange was changed from HUF to EUR.This change was important as it allows price comparison between CEEGEX and the most important international gas exchanges on the one hand, and eliminates the risk resulting from Forint and Euro exchange rate changes on the other. Another major task of 2017 was the preparation for providing clearing services related to HUDEX, the Hungarian derivative energy exchange launched in January 2018.
Expansion continues
Károly Mátrai added that besides the chance of meeting clients, the Essen event is of outstanding importance since its agenda focuses on key industrial issues, from gas and power production to delivery, storage and trading, including the services offered and available on the organized markets and energy exchanges, and also deals with topical issues such as industrial and retail developments covered by Smart Energy, or the future questions of energy supply.
Following the internationally acclaimed event in Essen, the domestic energy market is preparing for a new event: the National Conference of Hungarian Energy Traders’ Association will be held in Visegrad, on 8-9 March, and as a key service provider to the Hungarian and European energy market trading, KELER CCP takes part at the Conference as a sponsor.
